I look forward to tutoring you or your student. I am a teacher and mother, so I bring some of both of those roles to my teaching arena. I meet my students where they are academically and then together we construct a path to their goals.

Through my years of parenting (22 years and counting) and caring for our children, children in church, or my numerous nieces and nephews, I realized that schools are not equipping our kids for life. They may be able to pass the SAT or ACT with flying colors, but can they open a checking account by themselves? Do they know what FICA is or how to apply for a job? Do they know how to make a budget? I have made it my mission to prepare kids for what lies ahead. I want to teach book smarts, but I want my students to be equipped with life skills when they leave my classrooms

As teachers, it is so easy to get caught up in teaching to a standard and toward standardized testing. What we are forgetting to do is teach our students to be the next generation. Period. Not the generation that aced the history part of the common core or the generation who can name all the battles of the Civil War. Lasting lessons, the kind you encounter when you are 14 and still remember when you are 45, are the ones that connect with you and make you think beyond the classroom.
