Certified Tutor

I received a BA in English from the University of Iowa in 2011 and an MFA in Literary Arts from Brown University in 2013. I will be pursuing a PhD in Creative Writing at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee this fall. At Brown, I taught two undergraduate poetry workshops. I have also tutored student-athletes in English and Literature at the University of Iowa, an opportunity which allowed me to enhance my skills in individual instruction. I tutor English, literature, creative writing, critical thinking and organization. Aside from formal tutoring and teaching, I have volunteered for a women’s center where I held a women’s poetry group, and currently volunteer with a poetry group at an alternative high school. As a first generation college student, I not only believe in the positive difference learning can make in one’s life, but I also believe that everyone should have the opportunity to grow through learning. More broadly, I am passionate about tutoring English, literature, and creative writing because of the multitude of ways in which these subjects can teach us about our own lives. When I’m not tutoring, I like to read poetry, scour literary journals, and volunteer.
