I began my love for teaching at an early age, as the oldest child of a teacher. My mother has multiple endorsements and areas of love within teaching, spanning from elementary grades, middle school science and math, and secondary Nutritional Science and Human Development. Growing up in a family of educators, I quickly discovered my love for teaching and the potential effects that can be seen as lives transform over time of both the teachers and students. In my household and experience, learning is defined as engaging in active experiences, thoughtful inquiry, questioning and challenging common norms to establish best practices.
For learning to occur, there must be an active relationship with defined roles of learner and instructor. The learning journey to achieve wisdom is the ultimate goal. Additionally, community based programs offer the unique opportunities to spark and empower educational creativity, professional passion, and innovative principles. But overall, learning cannot occur unless there is a safe and conducive learning environment. After all, every student can learn when given the right support and guidance to shape their confidence to do well and succeed!
