Admissions into medical school can be highly competitive, meaning that it's essential to put your best foot forward on test day to help separate yourself from other applicants. Don't waste your time - connect with 51Թ to get access to Phoenix MCAT prep that you can trust.
51Թ offers two main types of test prep: private tutoring and online courses. Both of these options provide you with access to an expert instructor and resources that are guided to cover all elements of the exam. Our prep options provide you with flexible access and top-notch instruction suited to your needs.
What can Phoenix MCAT prep help me review?
The MCAT is composed of four sections: Chemical and Physical Foundations of Biological Systems, Critical Analysis and Reasoning Skills, Biological and Biochemical Foundations of Living Systems, and Psychological, Social, and Biological Foundations of Behavior. The MCAT is a mentally demanding test that lasts for 6 hours and 15 minutes, assuming you utilize all of your allotted time. It is important to build effective test-taking skills that help you stay focused and determined even when you encounter questions that you may not know how to answer. Here we will take a deep dive into each section to give you a broader picture of the topics and questions you can expect to encounter.
The Chemical and Physical Foundations of Biological Systems section will assess your knowledge of chemistry, physics, biology, and basic biochemistry, among other things. This portion of the exam contains 59 questions, including ten passage-based question sets containing four to six questions per set, and 15 independent questions. You will have 95 minutes to answer these questions. It is important to be able to understand how the different mechanical, physical, and biochemical functions of the body relate to the laws of physics. Brushing up on chemical reactions and the periodic table can also benefit you here.
In the Critical Analysis and Reasoning Skills section, you will be tasked with answering 53 questions presented in 9 passage-based sets. These questions will assess your skills in verbal and analytical reasoning, reading comprehension, and identifying ideas in a text, among other things. To excel in this section, you must be able to adequately deconstruct a text in order to isolate its compositional elements to infer meaning and extrapolate ideas from the passage to new contexts. You will have 90 minutes to complete this section, meaning that you must read through the passages in a critical, efficient manner to finish within the allotted time frame.
The Biological and Biochemical Foundations of Living Systems section tests your knowledge in general chemistry, organic chemistry, introductory biology, and basic biochemistry. To answer the given questions, you must combine your knowledge of these subjects with your scientific inquiry and reasoning skills. This section will also test your understanding of basic research methods and conceptual knowledge of statistics.
The Psychological, Social, and Biological Foundations of Behavior section will assess your understanding of how behavior impacts health, social issues prevalent in the medical field, and mental health issues, among other things. To sufficiently answer these questions, it will be necessary to be aware of ideas such as self-perception, social and cultural differences that influence well-being, and the interplay between social stratification, access to resources, and well-being. You will be given 95 minutes to complete 59 questions.
How can Phoenix MCAT prep help me prepare for the exam?
51Թ can connect you with two of the most effective types of Phoenix MCAT prep: online classes and private tutoring. Depending on your needs and learning styles, it's important to understand the unique benefits that each type of review offers.
Enrolling in a Phoenix MCAT prep class allows you to study in a familiar classroom setting, only this time in a virtual environment. Studying in an online classroom provides you greater flexibility to access test prep materials whenever it is convenient for you. Online courses will be led by a qualified instructor in a collaborative, group setting. You will attend live sessions with your classmates where you can ask questions, troubleshoot, and strategize in real time. Our online platform is intuitive and easy to use, so even if you've never taken an online course before, there won't be much of a learning curve. If you are struggling to comprehend cell and organ function, you can schedule one-on-one time with your instructor who can help understand how cell and organ systems interact to accomplish processes like reproduction jointly. Participating in an online course also provides you with a built-in social support system that can help motivate you when you're stuck on a tricky concept. New two- and four-week sessions begin weekly.
If you prefer a more personalized approach to test prep, working with a Phoenix MCAT tutor is a great way to focus specifically on your perceived areas of need. Your tutor will be available to meet you either online or in-person, depending on your scheduling needs. Studying with a private tutor is a great way to focus in on particular areas of the MCAT that might be giving you pause without having to adhere to a classroom study schedule. If you improve in an area more quickly than you anticipated, you and your instructor can alter your study plan and immediately begin addressing your next area of opportunity.
