51Թ offers a San Francisco-Bay Area USMLE course that gives you the opportunity to prep for the exam with the guidance of expert instructors. Preparing for such a demanding and important test like the USMLE is not an easy feat. You need to put in tremendous effort, time, and money into your study. Many aspiring medical professionals like the students from the University of California San Francisco School of Medicine enroll in the USMLE prep course to have a more structured review and access to experienced instructors who can help them prepare for the test.
What are some of the topics a San Francisco-Bay Area USMLE class can cover?
The USMLE has three different exams called "Steps." Step 1 is a one-day test and has 280 multiple-choice questions about basic science principles. It will include questions about biochemistry, behavioral science, anatomy, pharmacology, physiology, and pathology. Med students usually take Step 1 of the USMLE at the end of their second year.
Step 2 is a two-day test that covers Clinical Knowledge (CK) and Clinical Skills (CS). You will need to answer about 316 multiple-choice questions for CK. They cover subjects like obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, surgery, and internal medicine. For CS, you will be asked to examine and diagnose actors posing as patients. For this test, you also need to travel to one of the six test sites in the country to take the test. These are Atlanta, Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, and two sites in Philadelphia. Med students usually take Step 2 towards the end of their fourth year in med school.
Step 3 is also a two-day test and assesses your understanding of the required sciences that are needed for the unsupervised practice of general medicine. For Day 1 of the test, you need to answer about 233 multiple-choice questions, while the Day 2 test has about 180 multiple-choice questions and thirteen computer-based case simulations. Each case simulation is given a maximum of 10 or 20 minutes of real time. Med students usually take Step 3 after their first year of residency.
Besides the test content, your San Francisco-Bay Area USMLE class instructor can also help you learn effective test-taking techniques for each of the Steps in the test. Unlike other knowledge-based tests, the USMLE focuses on your ability to apply medical knowledge in actual patient scenarios or clinical settings, so knowing some effective ways to approach this type of exam can be a big help during the test day.
What are the advantages of enrolling in a San Francisco-Bay Area USMLE prep course?
Studying for the USMLE with the guidance of expert instructors handling the course can provide you with certain advantages you may not experience when studying on your own. Your instructor can give you a comprehensive review of the content of the test and can present cases to help you think like a doctor by considering the impact of symptoms and the patient's circumstances. You can gain new insights into different medical topics through the instructor's own knowledge and experience in medicine and in conducting USMLE reviews. And if you ever find yourself struggling with topics under Blood & Lymphoreticular System, Biostatistics, Multisystem Processes & Disorders, or any other topic, you can request to meet with your instructor one-on-one outside of class so you can receive personalized attention.
Another advantage of the course is that it's offered online, so you don't need to set aside extra hours for the commute. All you need is a computer and internet connection and you can start your USMLE test prep. You can imagine the time, effort, and money you will save by taking an online test prep course since you no longer need to physically go to a school or review center. This makes it even easier for you to fit a course in your schedule since we offer a wide range of course times to choose from. There are morning, afternoon, and evening schedules, and course sections that start every month. And if you are worried about not being able to ask questions to your instructor, you'll be happy to know that the course is conducted live - meaning your instructor and other classmates will be there with you in the virtual classroom. You can get instant feedback and even work on projects in a group.

This day marked the beginning of a life-long trial for my sister, and is a day I will always remember. Seeing the training my father received in...

I like to be creative and adapt to the learning style of a student. My goal is to make learning fun and never feel like a chore.... Adapt to what kind of learning the student best responds to; that way learning is fun and easy going, and never frustrating.... Get to know each other a bit, in order to know how to approach each topic the best way possible.... I think making different suggestions on how I taught myself, the material could bring some insight to someone in how to go about understanding the topic.
