Certified Tutor

I recently graduated from the University of California, Berkeley (Go Bears!) with a degree in Integrative Biology and an emphasis in Human Health. During my time there I took classes in just about every science subject they offered- which was reminiscent of High School, when I took just about every AP class my school offered. If you're sensing a theme here, you're right. I can be kind of a nerd. While at Cal I tutored other students in Physics and Chemistry, and also taught an introductory Biology lab. I also spent some time tutoring High School students in various sciences as well as Spanish.

I approach teaching in the same way that I approach learning; through a problem-solving, rather than memorization-based technique. I have found that most of the time, students are eager to understand the big picture but can sometimes get tripped up by confusing subtleties before they get there. It is my job to patiently translate that jargon into understandable concepts that enable the student to better understand the subject. I love teaching all sciences, as well as Spanish and reading techniques. Outside of teaching, I love being outdoors, and you can often find me planning fishing and backpacking trips. I am also active in volunteering, including an annual trip to Mexico to build houses, and am a huge San Francisco Giants fan. I plan to apply to Medical School next year.
