What is your teaching philosophy?

Every student learns differently, and the goal of teaching is to discover the best method to help students learn. In addition, it is important to be patient and meet students where they are in the learning process.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

I would try to get to know the student, making them feel comfortable. Also, I would try to figure out the ways that the student is struggling, and how they will learn best going forward.

How can you help a student become an independent learner?

I can help students understand not just the concepts at hand, but the best way in which they will learn and retain information. They can then apply these concepts in future learning, and become independent learners.

How would you help a student stay motivated?

Help the student understand that success in the classroom is important for their personal success. Also, I would be enthusiastic and excited about these subjects, making learning fun, and inspiring that in my students as well.

If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?

I would try as many different ways of explaining a subject as necessary until the student fully grasps the concept.

How do you help students who are struggling with reading comprehension?

I would give students different things to focus on while reading, and have them break down the reading into manageable sections.
