I have taught elementary art for over 13 years and I received a BA in studio art from the College of Charleston, focusing on painting and metal sculpture. I received my teaching credential from Seattle Pacific University in K-12 Art. Visual art has been a passion of mine my whole life, and I am very lucky to teach what I love!
I teach students artistic skills and knowledge while encouraging problem-solving, exploration, and creative thought.
I encourage students to express themselves visually and to explore different materials and subjects while developing their unique artistic voices. At the end of class, students are encouraged to talk about their art, reflecting on their work and the creative process. I also have a class pet, Pringles! She is a leopard gecko, and visits the class sometimes!

I enjoy all types of art mediums but focus on drawing, painting with acrylics, and designing fabric patterns which I sell on Spoonflower. I also love exploring the outdoors with our 2 dogs and I bring my camera to photograph colors and textures in nature to use as inspiration in my art. I also enjoy yoga, astronomy, and am currently learning how to fly fish!
