51Թ is the expert when it comes to matching students like you with professional Charlotte GRE prep services. The Graduate Record Examinations (GRE for short) is a standardized test written to help grad-level admission departments compare applicants with a single objective data point. Programs vary in how much they value these scores, but local schools such as Queens University of Charlotte and University of North Carolina at Charlotte will at minimum consider a good score as a point in your favor.
We can help you prepare for this difficult exam in one of two ways. First, we can place you in a Charlotte GRE prep course where you can study for the examination in a collaborative learning environment. If you would prefer to study in a one-on-one setting, we can connect you with a knowledgeable Charlotte GRE tutor instead. Contact us today for more info on how we might be able to help you.
What academic topics can I review during Charlotte GRE prep?
The GRE is an electronic exam consisting of three scored sections: Analytical Writing, Verbal Reasoning, and Quantitative Reasoning. The exam's Analytical Writing section assesses a test-taker's written communication skills, ability to use evidence effectively, and the ability to evaluate claims. The Verbal Reasoning section measures your reading comprehension and critical thinking skills. The test's Quantitative Reasoning section evaluates a student's quantitative problem-solving skills and understanding of basic mathematical concepts. Here's a more detailed look at what you can expect on each section:
1. Analytical Writing
The Analytical Writing section contains two separately-timed essay tasks. The first is called the "issue task," demanding an informative essay about a topic selected randomly from a list released before the exam. With a finite number of possible essay topics, it's possible to outline all of them before the exam so that you feel more prepared. The second is called the "argumentative task," and requires test-takers to evaluate another author's work. You have 30 minutes for each essay, and your score is reported on a scale from 0-6 in half-point increments.
2. Verbal Reasoning
The Verbal Reasoning section contains two blocks of 20 multiple-choice questions. You have 30 minutes per block for a total testing time of 60 minutes, but you cannot transfer time from one block to the other. There are three types of questions on this section: reading comprehension, text completion, and sentence equivalence. Reading comp items measure how well you can draw conclusions from what you read, so active reading skills are a must on this test. Text completions require you to fill in blanks in a short passage based on the material present. Sentence equivalence items work similarly, except that you need to choose two correct answers instead of one. Your Verbal score is reported on a scale from 130-170 in single point increments.
3. Quantitative Reasoning
The Quantitative Reasoning section also contains two blocks of 20 questions, but you have 35 minutes per block for 70 total minutes of testing time. Again, you cannot transfer any unused time to another section. The Quantitative Reasoning section has three question types: multiple-choice, numeric entry, and quantitative comparisons. Items may touch upon arithmetic, data analysis, geometry, and algebra. Your Quantitative score is reported on the same scale as the Verbal section.
You may also have an Experimental or Research section on your GRE. An Experimental section would be embedded into the Verbal or Quantitative section, and you wouldn't be able to distinguish it from the other questions on your exam. If present, the Research section stands alone at the end of the assessment. Both sections exist only for the manufacturer to test out future exam questions, so you don't need to worry about either in your test prep.
What are some of the benefits of each of the Charlotte GRE preparation options available to me?
As noted previously, we can help you find two great test prep solutions. If you choose a Charlotte GRE prep class, you study on our live virtual platform with an expert teacher and a handful of other students. We make sure every instructor we partner with has a strong understanding of GRE concepts and a passion for teaching, so you can count on a great teacher. You can also set aside private time with your instructor if you feel that you need extra help with something.
You and your fellow students can also foster a collaborative learning environment in which it may be easier to develop a deeper understanding of academic concepts. You might exchange test-taking strategies to give you a Plan B to fall back on in the face of a particularly tricky question. You might also complete group assignments to learn how to think about questions in a new way. For example, looking over a classmate's outline may inspire you to add something new to yours. Perhaps best of all, sharing your class with other students makes your test prep more affordable than it would be if you tried to go it alone.
That said, some students may need personalized attention to reach for their academic potential. A private tutor can build sessions around your unique learning style to enhance your study efficiency. Working with a private instructor also provides the flexibility to learn at your own pace. You can move on from a given concept as soon as you understand it, or your instructor can try new ways of explaining a difficult concept until it clicks for you.
We also try to make all of our products as convenient as possible. For instance, we offer two and four-week class sessions to make it easier to find a fit for your busy lifestyle. Similarly, new classes start every week so that it's always a great time to get started. If you would prefer to work with a private instructor, our proprietary Live Learning Platform provides the benefits of face-to-face study sessions without the usual hassle.

As an eccentric traveler, learner, and collector of oddities I am proud of the experience I bring to the table with my students.... In a typical first session, my goal would be to outline the goals of my student and to establish an open line of communication.
