51Թ offers a Denver USMLE course that can get you started with an effective, convenient test prep experience. Preparing for a grueling test like the USMLE will demand hours and hours of studying and dedication. With typical USMLE review courses, you need to seek out a course at a review center near your home that also fits your schedule to make sure you can actually attend the classes. With all these considerations, many med students from schools like the University of Colorado School of Medicine may find it difficult or stressful to attend traditional classroom reviews. They may also feel that traditional classrooms may not be the most convenient and cost-effective way for them to prep for the test.
Now, 51Թ offers med students an easier, more convenient, and affordable way to study for the USMLE. Our USMLE course is conducted entirely online, led by experienced instructors, and can give you a comprehensive review for the test.
What are some of the topics a Denver USMLE class can cover?
The USMLE has three different exams, referred to as "Steps." You need to pass Step 1 and Step 2 before you can take on Step 3. Let's look at the details of each.
Step 1 is a one-day test session made up of 280 multiple-choice questions. The questions test you on basic science principles and include subjects like behavioral science, biochemistry, pathology, pharmacology, anatomy, and physiology. Step 1 is divided into seven 60-minute blocks with 40 questions each. Med students usually take Step 1 of the USMLE at the end of their second year.
Step 2 is a two-day test composed of Clinical Knowledge (CK) and Clinical Skills (CS). The former will have about 316 multiple-choice questions covering surgery, pediatrics, internal medicine, and obstetrics and gynecology, while the latter will require you to examine and diagnose actors posing as patients. There are 12 patient cases, and you have 15 minutes to spend with each patient and 10 minutes to record each patient note. You will need to travel to one of the six test centers in the U.S. (Atlanta, Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, and two in Philadelphia) in order to take this test.
Step 3 is also a two-day test that will assess whether a student has the medical knowledge and understanding of the required sciences that are essential for the unsupervised practice of medicine. This part of the exam is usually taken after the first year of residency.
Apart from the contents of the exam, your Denver USMLE class instructor may also share effective test-taking techniques for each of the steps mentioned above. Knowing how to approach the USMLE and how to prepare for it are also very important factors in succeeding in the exam.
What are the advantages of enrolling in a Denver USMLE course?
The USMLE course is a test prep course you can take entirely online. All you need is a computer and internet connection and you can participate in the course. This is a very convenient way to study for the test because you don't need to allow extra time for a commute. You can invest the time you save in your studies. Since it's online, you can also choose from a wide range of course times that are in the morning, afternoons, and evenings. This makes it easier to find a course that suits your schedule. You can even take weekend courses!
The course is led by an expert USMLE instructor who can work with you and help you perform at your best on exam day. Your instructor can teach you how to answer efficiently so you can complete each section of the test within the allotted time. He or she can also advise on test-taking techniques and good study habits that you can use on the exam.
If you feel that you need to work on certain subjects under the different steps of the USMLE, or if you have questions or concerns about the exam, the Denver USMLE prep course allows you to request a one-on-one meeting with your instructor for extra help. This personalized and customized attention may not be readily available in traditional test prep courses.
