Recent Hebrew Tutoring Session Notes
In this class, we talked about family terms and fruit in Chinese. The student learned really fast. We also practiced the conversation for a bit. We will learn new concepts in a more systematic way next class.
Today's session went well. We focused mostly on his Mandarin homework. We had to play recordings and answer questions from the workbook. His listening has improved, as well as his speaking. We just need to work on his pronunciation a bit more.
The student had a Chinese test in class the following day on weather terms, so we spent the session preparing for it. We went over vocabulary relating to weather and practiced some sentence structures. At the end we conversed in Mandarin briefly.
The student did great today. He had written his characters very neatly and paid great attention to detail during the session. He practiced studying for his dictation test and completed his homework for tomorrow, as well as most of his homework due a week from tomorrow. His pronunciation of pinyin has really improved, and he's started to correctly say the tones as well.
We talked about her lesson on gardens and parks. We learned certain opposites pertaining to location such as front, in front of, behind, and in back of. We reviewed her poem and a dialog in the book relating to the location of objects around the outside of a house.
Today, we went into chapter 10 and reviewed chapter 9. We both agreed that to help with remembering vocabulary, and to work on writing, we decided to give him writing exercises for homework. Chapter 10 also reviewed numbers and intervals, at which new characters in Chinese were introduced, and we spent a bit of time on that. I assigned the student some numbers to write in Chinese, as practice for homework. After that, we went into another news article, that summarized a visit by an international leader to China.
