I am looking forward to the chance to work with you! As an experienced elementary school teacher, I am looking forward to showing you a variety of strategies to help you to be successful in school! I earned my bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Mount St. Mary's University and my Master's Degree in Educational Technology Leadership from George Washington University. These strong education programs have helped me grow into the teacher that I am today! While I love teaching, I also spend my time exercising, playing golf, watching my 49ers during football season and spending time with my family!

I have been lucky to teach 1st, 2nd, 4th and 5th grade. I have also had the opportunity to teach Physical Education and Technology. Working with a variety of age groups has allowed me to connect different strategies with the individual needs of students. During these experiences, I have become a solid Math and Reading teacher. I have helped kids develop phonic's skills, reading comprehension skills and writing skills. I learned a variety of strategies from experts working with the University of Pittsburgh while I was writing Common Core Math lessons for Prince George's County Public Schools. I would have to say that I prefer to tutor math, but am eager to help my students learn to read too! I also have experience teaching Science across multiple grade levels (5th in particular). I am willing to help you conquer challenges in Science or Social Studies as well! Even if you simply need strategies for studying, I am happy to share strategies that have worked for my students!

I believe that when learning something new, it is important to go into it with confidence! Why be scared of long division when you can focus on the math facts and strategies that you know to help you climb that mountain? It is also important to learn strategies and find patterns instead of memorizing facts. Memorizing facts may get you through the challenge at hand, but learning strategies that can be applied later will help you to get past challenges in the future as well! I am eager to share what I know with young scholars hitting a block in the road!

I am an organized educator that is driven! My organizational skills and experience with long range planning will help us set appropriate goals. I will show up prepared to each tutoring session and I expect the same from my students! Maintaining high expectations for ourselves is the best way to achieve our goals....don't settle for less than your personal best!
