Certified Tutor

Hey there! I'm a 2nd year medical student at Des Moines University. I attended the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities for my undergraduate studies. I completed a B.S. in Genetics, a B.A. in Spanish Studies, followed by a year of post-baccalaureate studies in Neuroscience. During this time, I accumulated a variety of meaningful experiences in research, tutoring/teaching, peer mentoring, and through athletics as captain of the co-ed cheerleading team.

Next, I spent two years gaining additional research, tutoring, medical scribing, and direct patient care experience. Notably, during this time, I spent a year and a half working as a full-time researcher in the Moriarity Lab at the University of Minnesota, developing novel immunotherapies as alternative treatment options for cancer.

As a medical student, I spend my free time volunteering at free clinics around the greater Des Moines area, providing homeless community outreach, preventative medicine education, and peer mentoring. I also enjoy exercising, reading, and cooking up a delicious meal whenever I have a moment!

As a life-long learner, I value the power of education. I have always enjoyed acquiring and sharing knowledge. I am grateful for the mentorship and guidance I have received along my academic journey; I take joy in providing the same for others. Please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions! I look forward to working with you.

What is your teaching philosophy?

It is not the inability of the student that prevents them from understanding a concept, but rather the inability of the teacher to convey the information in such a way that it is understood by the student.
