Certified Tutor

I have been working in education for 13 years. I started as a one-on-one paraeducator working with students with special abilities. My educational background consists of an Associate of Science degree, I am walking in May with my Bachelor of Arts degree, but will finish this Summer to add my major in Interdisciplinary Studies to my degree. I currently work as a Dyslexia Interventionist for the public school district I have worked in for 13 years. I have trained in the Science of Reading program, and currently use Sonday System to teach my students. I have had Autism Focused Intervention Resources and Modules training. I help facilitate IEP and 504 goals and accommodations. English has always been my favorite subject. Helping people is something that I just do. When I see a student struggling, I want to help in any way that is possible. Seeing students grow in reading, comprehension, and/or spelling and building up their confidence is all the reward I need. Each student's learning abilities or strategies are different and I may have to learn what works best for them, but I will do my best to implement a way that will work for us both. I take education very seriously but like to make it fun. Building a great rapport with my students is also important to me because I want them to be comfortable asking questions or telling me if they don't understand something or need more help.
