I love the humanities because, with careful study, they build a person from the inside out. Languages, writing and the arts require you to engage fully with their subjects - to produce something unique, something that only you can offer. This, to me, is true learning. It translates into clearer thinking, better grades and greater satisfaction in life.

Effective teaching is not just the product of studying a subject, nor of studying educational methods. It can only come consistently from studying each individual student with the intent of discovering how the material can best be presented to them.

I first started tutoring at my college's academic enrichment center. I specialized in math and tutored on everything from basic Algebra concepts to Calculus III and Differential Equations. My students have helped me to approach topics in new ways and explore new methods. Outside of tutoring, I'm a college senior studying mechanical engineering.
