What's tested on the SAT?
Your course will follow the content of the SAT to make sure that you get a chance to review everything you need to know for your upcoming test. Therefore, it's worthwhile to spend some time reviewing what's actually tested on the SAT. The exam was designed with the purpose of helping colleges assess which of their applicants are most prepared to succeed at the collegiate level of study. It is split into three required sections and one optional Essay section. The required SAT sections focus on Math, Writing and Language, and Reading.
The SAT's Reading section has a 65-minute time limit and features 52 multiple-choice questions. The score that you earn for this section will be combined with the Writing and Language section for one score that ranges from 200 to 800 points. This is called the Evidence-Based Reading and Writing score. On the Reading section, you'll be asked to read a series of written passages that cover things like literature, historical documents, social science, and science. The questions that you're asked on this section will assess your command of evidence, your ability to identify the meaning of words in the context they're presented, and how well you can analyze selections in social studies and science.
The SAT Writing and Language section has a 35-minute time limit and consists of 44 multiple-choice questions. Similarly to the Reading section, all of the questions on this part of the SAT will be based on a series of written passages. In addition to the skills assessed in the Reading section, this part of the SAT also assesses your understanding of the expression of ideas and standard English conventions.
Finally, the last required test section focuses on Math. Here, you'll be given 80 minutes to answer 58 questions. This is a two-part section that is split based on the questions you're allowed to use a calculator to answer and the ones that you can't use a calculator on. You'll be tested on a variety of math topics, including algebra, data analysis, and introductory advanced math problems.
If you choose to complete the SAT Essay section, then you'll be given 50 minutes to do so. You'll read a passage and then will be asked to write an essay that responds in some way to what you've just read. To perform well in the Essay section, you'll need to be able to craft a compelling essay within a short time frame. You'll be graded based on your use of evidence, the strength of the arguments you make, and the quality of your writing.
Taking a test preparation course is a great way to review the topics you need to know for all of these SAT sections. The following section will explore how a New York City SAT course can help you get more out of your study sessions and improve your understanding of core SAT topics. Keep reading to find out what 51Թ can do to help you prepare for the SAT.

...experience in calculus and basic algebra (Algebra I or Algebra II) are the most exciting, and those subjects are correspondingly my favorite to tutor. When I'm not tutoring or studying, I'm pretty reliably involved in some way in one of three activities. I devote a significant amount of my time to solving crossword puzzles, and am a regular competitor in the American Crossword Puzzle Tournament. I am also a baseball fan, and spend a lot...

...had worked as a lead tutor at a math-focused center for students ages 5 to 18, had individually tutored numerous students on college entrance exam preparation, and has worked professionally as an editorial assistant for research institutions. Her personal goal is to help students build a foundation of solid study skills that they can rely on throughout their education so that they have the confidence to perform their best in every course.... My first session is always focused on getting to the know the student's areas of comfort and concern, as well as working through a few questions from each area we'll address to see how he or she approaches problems. Discussing the goals of our time together is important, and that begins with understanding his or her learning style. Tutoring is a personal matter, and ensuring that a student is comfortable working with me is a major priority of mine.

If you choose me to be your tutor then you will definitely ace your test. I'm a great math tutor because I understand the material thoroughly, am patient, and know how to explain things. I attended Stuyvesant High School and the University of Chicago; I am currently studying Data Science with Johns Hopkins.... If you don't get it then I'm explaining it wrong.... Before the first session, I'd have them do a bunch of practice problems on the subject they want to be tutored in, and I'd look over their answers to see what they need help with. I'd also ask them which problems they guessed on or weren't totally sure of. We could start from there.

I have been a tutor for six years, and have tutored all ages. I specialize in the college admission process, and especially like working with students on admissions essays and test prep. I graduated from the University of Notre Dame two years ago with a degree in television and anthropology. I work at MTV during the weekday, but am free weekends and weeknights after 7:00 pm.... I think a good tutor allows the student to learn what they already know before trying to teach them anything new. I love working with students on their writing. I also love sharing the tricks and tips I learned during my own time as a student.
