If you're interested in finding a way to enhance your student's Tampa ISEE prep, let 51Թ help you out. Known as the Independent School Entrance Exam, the ISEE is a widely accepted test that allows independent schools to determine whether a student would be able to keep up with their classes. While the exam is just one component of the application process, your student will want to put their best foot forward on this exam. We can help your student get set up with comprehensive ISEE prep that is reliable and convenient.
What can Tampa ISEE prep cover?
There are multiple versions of the ISEE, depending on the student's grade level. Each exam is more advanced than the previous, allowing independent schools to measure a student's potential for success more accurately. Read on to learn more about the different ISEE tests.
The Primary ISEE splits into three levels: 2, 3, and 4. Level 2, 3, and 4 all cover sections on Reading, Math, and Writing Sample. However, Level 2 includes an Auditory Comprehension section, which measures your student's ability to listen to and comprehend information. The remaining sections aim to assess your student's basic skills at a grade-appropriate level.
The Lower, Middle, and Upper Level versions of the ISEE are similar in terms of format, sections, and timing. Since each version is designed for a different grade level, the concepts and skills become more advanced with each exam. Let's take a look at the similarities and differences between each.
There is a total of five sections on these three versions of the ISEE: Verbal Reasoning, Quantitative Reasoning, Reading Comprehension, Math Achievement, and Essay. Your student will have 20 minutes to complete the Verbal Reasoning section, which covers 40 questions. Lower Level exams measure their ability to use context clues to complete a sentence and their grasp of vocabulary. The Middle Level version focuses on vocabulary, word clues, parts of speech, and using roots to define words. Students taking the Upper Level version will be expected to demonstrate advanced knowledge of the same skills.
Next is the Quantitative Reasoning section. Your student will have 35 minutes to demonstrate their ability to use logical mathematical thinking to respond to 37 questions. The Lower Level assesses your student's grasp of basic math concepts, such as addition, multiplication, subtraction, and simple probability. However, the Middle Level version focuses on concepts like integers, decimals, percentages, and square roots. The Upper Level test measures your student's ability to work with triangles, sets, exponents, and data.
The Reading Comprehension section allows your student up to 35 minutes to answer 36 questions. Lower Level ISEE test takers will need to know how to find and identify important information in a passage, as well as how to use it to answer questions. The Middle Level exam incorporates the comparison of information, inference from unstated information, and figurative and literal language use. Finally, the Upper Level version asks your student to identify and understand relationships between literary genres.
Your student will have 40 minutes to solve the 47 questions on the Math Achievement section. While the Lower Level exam measures your student's grasp of simple operations, symmetry, and other basic concepts, the Middle Level version focuses on their ability to work with prime numbers, Venn Diagrams, ratios, and fractions. The Upper Level ISEE asks your student to solve equations and word problems using geometric shapes, variables, and exponents.
Finally, the Essay section presents a single prompt with a 30-minute time limit. Every level contains a prompt that has a topic of interest to students at a slightly lower grade level than your student's. This portion allows schools to get an idea of who the student is, as well as their creative and writing skills.
How can my student benefit from a new approach to Tampa ISEE prep?
There are two main categories of test prep available: an ISEE class or a private tutor. Both offer a wide range of advantages to different types of students. Let's take a look at what each form of Tampa ISEE preparation has to offer your student.
Some students prefer the structure of a traditional classroom. We can sign your student up for an online Tampa ISEE prep course. Courses are group sessions that allow your student to engage with their peers and instructor via a virtual classroom. New sessions start every week in each section of the test, allowing your student to find a course that suits their schedule.
Classes can allow your student to deepen their understanding of the exam through ongoing discussion with their classmates. Another student may ask a question or present a point of view that your student may not have thought about, which can benefit everyone in the session. In addition, if your student has any trouble getting the hang of a topic, their instructor can set aside time to work with them one-on-one.
On the other hand, some students thrive under targeted and personalized instruction. Your student can study with a Tampa ISEE tutor who can approach their test review in a way that appeals to their learning preferences. Their mentor can create a customized study plan that encompasses only the topics and skills that your student has the most room for improvement in, allowing your student to spend their study sessions working efficiently. Your student's instructor can even assess their progress regularly to adjust their study plan to reflect any growth.

...but a learned way of not to do something. As Edison famously stated, "I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work." When I'm not working, I enjoy spending time in my garden, reading some of the books I own but have yet to read, and taking walks with my dogs.... Patience is the most important concept of reading comprehension. I like to start by using a list of phonemes to better identify where a student is having an issue. In the English language there are often more than one combination of letters to achieve a phoneme, so once these can be treated as sight words, reading comprehension is strengthened once students are no longer struggling with fluency.
